What is the purpose?
The purpose is that through arts we will lift up Jesus and echo His name to every corner of Greenville. The Bible teaches us this about Jesus in Philippians 2:9-11
“9-11Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and
honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that
all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long
ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before
this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master
of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.(The Message)
Why sing to Jesus?
For who He is:
Jesus is by far the most influentialble and loving man that has ever walked on the planet, and we want to make Him famous not just because of what he taught but also because of who He is:
“15.He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of
all creation. 16.For by him all things were created, in heaven
and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created
through him and for him. 17.And he is before all things, and
in him all things hold together.”(Colossians 1:15-16, ESV)
For what He has done:
What did Jesus do? He rescued us; “Jesus has rescued us from the coming wrath.”(1 Thessalonians 1:10); Meaning that “He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13-14). So as a response to the revelation of God’s love towards us we sing to Him, just like the psalmist did:“My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song” (Psalm 28:7). This is the greatest news: that Jesus is alive, and has resurrected from the dead (Acts 10:40).
How does Harmony Church
worship Jesus?
We do what the Bible teaches us to do, to the best of our ability:
• We make music for God (Psalm 149:1).
• We praise Him with every possible.
instrument (whether electric guitars or turntables) (Psalm 150:3-5).
• We praise Him with every breath in our lungs (Psalm 150:6).
• We worship in “unity” (Psalm 133).
• We “party” praising our God. (1 Chronicles 16:9-10, Psalm 149:3)
• We worship with “reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28).
• We play our instruments “skillfully” (Psalm 33:3).
• We are real and honest in our worship, knowing that even
though we are not perfect, He is. (John 4:23)
